Review:

Tim: The original vampire movie, a horror movie from 1922, is a classic that was extremely important to the film industry. It introduced many camera techniques that are still used today. I encourage you to do some independent research, because it is fascinating. This fact alone makes the movie required viewing.

Director F.W. Murnau creates a masterpiece that must have been incredible when first released. Even today, the film is still frightening. It is a silent movie, in black and white- this all adds to the fear the movie creates. While tame by today's standards, the atmosphere and music makes up for what the film lacks in blood and gore.

Max Schreck gives one of the most amazing performances of all time. He is truly frightening and memorable.

Nosferatu is so vastly important to world cinema. It comes out of the German expressionist ear. It is the first Dracula/vampire movie ever made, and stands up as one of the best and most frightening. Every avid movie watcher must see this film- every vampire movie since 1922 has borrowed something from this film.
