Summary: Three friends (Julia Roberts, Annabeth Gish, Lili Taylor) spend their days working at Mystic Pizza and their nights dealing with their respective relationships.

Review:

Tim: Mystic Pizza is memorable because it is the movie that really launched the career of Julia Roberts. Outside of that, it is a fairly respectable romantic dramedy that is at least mildly entertaining. The film follows three young women in Mystic, Connecticut as they struggle with various relationships. This gives the film an interesting twist, because three different relationships all take center stage at various times.

The most interesting is Julia Roberts. She and Adam Storke are explosive together, so this rocky relationship draws our attention the most. The most emotional relationship is that of Annabeth Gish (who, by the way, should have had a much brighter career after this. What happened to her?) She is the easiest to identify and root for- she's the heart of the film. Lili Taylor is the weakest of the three. Her scenes with Vincent D'Onofrio are never that exciting. Also, look for Matt Damon in his very first film.

The movie feels like it is building towards some big conclusion, but sort of fizzles out at the end. The film does have some legitimate dramatic moments. However, besides launching the career of Julia Roberts and starting the career of Matt Damon, the only real impact this film makes on me is a strong desire to go to Mystic and get some of that pizza!
