Review:

Tim: This is a classic 90s comedy that is tailored to bring out the best in Robin Williams. This movie plays on all of Williams' strengths and allows him to be remarkable. This is all helped by one of the greatest performances of his career. I don't like Robin Williams when he is too over-the-top and ridiculous. Here, he balances the right amount of seriousness with the right amount of comedy.

This movie also suceeds because it addresses some real issues like divorce, at a time when it was not as obvious a topic to discuss in children's films. The movie ends with some commentary on the nature of families that is actually fairly deep.

The most fun comes when Williams is trying his best to convince everyone else he is an elderly woman. Whether this involves multiple costume changes at a restaurant or some ingenuity in the kitchen, we sit back and laugh at his craziness.

The supporting cast is very good as well. Sally Field is delightful to watch. Pierce Brosnan is terrific in a role that requires him to be somewhat likeable, but also to be quite dislikeable. He plays off Williams superbly.

Mrs. Doubtfire is a very well made comedy that will certainly do what it should do- make you laugh.
