Review:

Tim: This movie is completely about Charlize Theron. Some people said she won the Academy Award for Best Actress because she is so pretty and made herself ugly for the role. While this is true, she doesn't just make herself ugly with some makeup and a wig. She transforms herself into a monster, both inside and out. She is absolutely amazing as she goes through this remarkable change. You have to see her.

The film should be applauded because Aileen Wuornos could have been depicted as a one-dimensional serial killer. Instead, the movie injects humanity into the character. This is due both to the story and the performance of Theron. It is flat out remarkable to see how realistically this killer is portrayed. It is very often haunting and unforgettable.

Christina Ricci is decent in the role, but it is hard for her to do much because she is completely eclipsed by Theron's tour de force performance. Theron earned her Academy Award with every bit of energy she poured into the role. How could Ricci compare to that?

This is a very, very difficult film to watch. We see the actions of a woman that fell through the cracks of society. She lived a terrible, difficult life and committed some unspeakable crimes. This movie is important and should change you, if only on some small way.
