Review:

Tim: Clint Eastwood's film packs one hell of an emotional punch. Everything about this film is done well and this movie simply works on all levels. Eastwood is undeniably one of the greatest American directors and further pushes that point home here.

The story is told very well, involving themes of redemption, love, and making dreams come true. Pay special attention to the surrogate father and daughter parts, because it offers the most human and touching moments of the film.

This is the type of film the Academy loves- a boxing film that features a stellar cast all giving excellent performances, concerns a somewhat controversial topic, and tugs at our heartstrings. Eastwood has given us another memorable film and one that we need to see. If you're unsure about seeing this movie because of the controversial subject matter, remember that watching films that make us uncomfortable or pose and opposite viewpoint are vital to our growth as movie watchers and as people.
