Review:

Tim: I should say that at first, I really did not like the original Men in Black. Upon viewing it a few more times, it grew on me, but I have never been much of a fan, so I really wasn't looking forward to seeing this film. Alas, this is my job, so I had to do it sooner or later.

That being said, I felt the same about this film as I did the first one. I didn't overtly hate this film, but I didn't like it either. Sure, it had a fair amount of action and comedy, and it's always great seeing Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones together; but fundamentally, this film had very little going for it. The script didn't hold together very well, and at various times during the film, I had to remind myself I was watching the sequel, instead of the original (as there was very little difference between the two films). The new and exciting quality that was present for the original simply wasn't there this time, and Jones and Smith seemed to be just going through the motions in order to collect a big paycheck and made another summer blockbuster.

Honestly, folks, no matter how much you enjoyed Men in Black, this sequel should never have been made. It contributes very little to anything, and you feel that way from start to finish.

I'll try to find some good in this film. First off, Will Smith was his usual charismatic self, and did get several laughs throughout the film. It was good seeing him back on screen in a summer blockbuster (as he was once known as the King of Summer Blockbusters (around Independence Day time). Tommy Lee Jones, despite seeming incredibly bored with the whole idea of the film, does have several bright moments.

I guess the final word to say about this film is that if you liked the first one, you'll probably somewhat enjoy this one. If you didn't like the first one, then don't take a chance on this film, because its really, really not worth it.
