Review:
Tim: "Everything that has a beginning has an end." Every Matrix movie has had an least one awe-inspiring line. This is the spine-tingling entry into that tradition by The Matrix Revolutions.
Sadly, this is an inferior and disappointing conclusion to what could have been the greatest science fiction trilogy of all time. The Wachowski brothers lose sight of everything that was incredible about the original film and succumb to making almost an action film without any of that sense of awe and wonder that made the first film so great.
This movie is vastly void of enough fighting scenes within the matrix. We have way too many scenes inside Zion- none of which are particularly interesting. I don't want to see robots righting robots in some sad Pearl Harbor rip off. I want to see people flipping and battling through the air, doing impossible physical stunts- like dodging bullets. Besides the Neo v. Smith battle at the end, we get none of that at all.
Speaking of the final battle between Neo and Smith, it is the crowning achievement of the series (in regards to special effects). The affect of the battle on the rain is especially amazing to watch. The series hits its climax here. Sadly, it is too short, and too little, too late.
Unfortunately, not to give away any spoilers (and I won't), but the film's conclusion with the sunset is somewhat ridiculous. The Matrix Revolutions is a decent film, but not what it should have been. This is an amazing series that starts with a bang, but goes out with a whimper.
