Review:
Tim: I must say that I expected more from Gladiator director Ridley Scott, seeing as he was teamed with Executive Producer Robert Zemeckis, making a film starring Nicholas Cage. Some critics thought this movie was a terrific crime caper, but I thought that it was long, slow, and somewhat boring.
The first problem I had with the film was the character of Cage's daughter. Now, I know she is supposed to be 14 years old and all girls that age would try our patience, but she is just really, really annoying, to the point where it interrupts the viewing of the film.
Nicholas Cage himself gives a good and eccentric performance, but unfortunately, he is somewhat irritating as well. Its not so much Cage, but just the character he is playing. This movie can easily get on your nerves.
The story of the film is interesting, with a few twists and turns. Unfortunately, it is fairly un-entertaining as well. Instead of being on the end of your seat, through most of the film you're just wondering when it will all be over.
In the film's favor, there is one major twist that is surprising, and almost good enough to save the movie. Its just too little too late. I should mention that for some reason, I was probably overly harsh with this movie. However, some films just rub you the wrong way. I might have been harsh, but I do not believe I was unfair. This movie just isn't very good at all.
