Review:
Tim: It is amazing that Robert Rodriguez made such a good film with such an incredibly small budget. The total budget was just over $7,000 dollars. In light of multimillion dollar productions, I marvel that Rodriguez made a superb movie with next to nothing. Even more amazing is that the film was shot with no second takes. That is incredible.
El Mariachi has incredible action and is actually very funny. Some movie viewers may not like this film, primarily because it is foreign and dubbed in english. However, those people (whom aren't you, I am sure) wouldn't like this film because they are closed minded. Don't pay attention to these people, because the film is great.
The main character of the mariachi is such a cool, fun character. He always wears black and carries around a large guitar case. Rodriguez is completely responsible for bringing him to the screen. El Mariachi launched Rodriguez into the spotlight. His follow-up to El Mariachi was Desperado, in which Antonio Banderas takes over as the mariachi. To truly understand Rodriguez's trilogy, you need to out and see the original, foreign, and amazing film.
