Review:
Tim: This is a fairly good 007 film. Roger Moore is getting more comfortable in the role and is proving to be a good successor to Sean Connery. This isn't the best Bond film, but it is pretty enjoyable nonetheless.
Christopher Lee is devilishly clever as Scaramanga, the best Bond villain in at least the past few films. He is a perfect counter to Moore's Bond and the two have quite a few enjoyable dialogue scenes together. Add in a sidekick midgit and that is good filmmaking right there, my friend.
The movie does have some great moments. The golden gun is a very good visual, physical object that centers our attention throughout the movie. The car jump sequence (which is a downright stunning achievement) is great, especially since it wasn't altered by any special effects.
This Bond film is different because Bond's main job is to stay alive from master assassin Scaramanga, who obviously wants him dead. Of course, there is also some larger-than-life plot to destroy the world using a laser gun or something. This is an enjoyable Bond entry- let's hope that Moore continues to impress.
