Review:

Tim: Lost in Translation is an interesting film by Sophia Coppola. This is very much not your typical movie. In many ways, it is unlike most films you see and for that reason, it scores points for novelty.

Bill Murray gives an excellent performance. He was horribly disappointed he didn't win the Academy Award for Best Actor, but I agree with the decision. He deserved his nomination, nothing more.

Scarlett Johansson gives an outstanding performance as well. I don't know what about her is so incredible, but she draws the focus of the film toward her with her gentle strength and charisma.

I was very surprised that with the great performances by Murray and Johansson, you'd think they would have more chemistry together. They don't look right next to each other at all, and I'm not talking about romantically or simply because of their age difference. Separate they are great, but together they just don't connect.

Coppola really tries to tell a moving, emotional, and funny story. Tokyo plays a major role in the film, which is a very interesting move. As much as Coppola tries to make a film about two people unexpectedly connecting, this film is also about their surroundings, and the fascinating capital city of Japan.

Lost in Translation is a decent and different film. It has some funny moments, but the best ones are all dramatic. I'm not a huge fan of the film, but I understand why many people will like it.
