Summary: The 1965-1968 television series comes to the big screen. In 2058, the earth has exhausted nearly all of its fossil fuels. In a short while, the earth will not be able to support life. Dr. Robinson (William Hurt)leads the Jupiter mission to colonize Alpha Prime, a planet that can support life. At the last minute, ace pilot Major Don West (Matt LeBlanc) is asked to pilot the mission. Dr. Robinson brings his family along, including his wife Maureen (Mimi Rogers), his daughter Judy (Heather Graham), and of course, Will (Jack Johnson). The Jupiter mission is sabotaged by the evil Dr. Smith (Gary Oldman) and must take evasive actions to avoid being drawn into the sun. When the ship initiates the hyperdrive, they are slingshot out into the unknown galaxy. Now that they are lost, it will take their all to get home: and to do so they must face alien spiders, crash landing on a planet, strange time bubbles, and of course, Dr. Smith

Review:

Tim: Lost in Space updates the 60's television series, but to enjoy this movie, one does not even need to know of the original. The special effects in this film are dazzling, and amazing to watch. The actors all play their parts well. Graham and LeBlanc have definite chemistry on the screen, and have several hilarious moments together. William Hurt is perfect as Dr. Robinson, and Gary Oldman plays the evil Dr. Smith excellently. The plot of the movie is terrific, but the end of the film is a little confusing and not strung together very well.

This is a film the entire family can watch and no one will be bored. It appeals to younger children, yet has enough entertainment to keep any adult entralled. The special effects are amazing, and enough cannot be said of them. The film has incredible action scenes. The alien spider scene is visually outstanding. This movie is just great.

If you are in the mood for action, Lost in Space is definetly a worthwhile pick.
