Summary: Years ago, ten rings of power were created, but also one more- a maste ring, "One ring to rule them all." The legendary One Ring was lost for centuries, until Gandalf the wizard (Ian McKellen) realizes the ring is in the hands of hobbit Bilbo Baggins. The ring eventually comes to a new master, young Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood). At the same time, the original owner of the ring, the Dark Lord, Sauron rises, and starts to organize an army to retrieve the ring. Now, Frodo and Gandalf must team with a group of dwarves, elves, humans, and hobbits to form The Fellowship of the Ring... and take the ring into the dark land of Mordor, to cast it into the volcano there, to destroy the ring once and for all.

Review:

Tim: The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring starts the trilogy that will be called one of the greatest epics of all time. This film is amazing to behold. It is visually stunning, as everything appears wide and sweeping. Every scene makes you believe in this magical world of elves, hobbits, and power rings. This imaginative movie will take you places you never knew existed, and involve you in drama that you'll never forget.

The film itself is intense, thrilling, and magnificent. Every second of the film weaves together the story of Frodo Baggins and the Fellowship of the Ring, and you will find yourself on the edge of your seat, unable to peel your eyes away from the screen. The film is so beautiful to look at that you won't want to miss a second. The movie is so powerful that by its end, it will leave you gasping for breath, struggling to take it all in. Peter Jackson does a fantastic job bringing the world of Middle-earth to vivid life.

While you watch this film, you realize you are seeing something truly remarkable. From the elaborate scenes to the incredible acting from all involved parties, this film is as near to perfection as a film can get. If you see only one film this year, then this one has to be it. I truly believe no movie lover can call themselves such unless they have experienced this film. It is truly incredible.

With The Lord of the Rings, prepare yourself for an epic film unlike any other. You will laugh, cry, and jump out of your seat from fright. This movie mixes so much together, from comedy scenes to some truly terrifying ones involving the ghostly black riders on horseback. You'll bite your nails til there's nothing left, and lose your breath by the majesty of the whole film.

The movie also has incredible performances by Ian McKellen and Elijah Wood. McKellen brings Gandalf the wizard to life. You love him on screen, amazed at his every move. Gandalf is one of the best characters in the books, and the transition to the big screen is tremendous. Perhaps the best performance in the film is by Elijah Wood. As Frodo Baggins, the entire film centers on Wood, and in the face of an epic masterpiece before him, he doesn't blink. The very core of The Lord of the Rings is about one thing- the loss of innocence. Without this key ingredient, all the magic in Hollywood won't make this trilogy truly great. Luckily, Wood embodies that key ingredient, and you can see the change best in his character. Pay attention to his face at various points in the movie. He starts out young and idealistic, dreaming of adventures like Bilbo. However, when his own adventure comes along, Frodo realizes there is more to the world than he ever imagined- and more evil, too. One of the most powerful lines in the film is when Wood says, "I wish the ring had never come to me." He says it with such emotion that a shiver runs up your spine as you realize that is the center of this movie. That is what makes this film amazing.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring is one of the greatest epic films of all time. If you haven't seen this film yet, I truly pity you, and beg you to see it soon. Every so often a film comes along that changes everything, that shows you the best side of Hollywood, that tells an amazing tale that stirs something in your soul. This film is it.
