Summary: An amnesiac schoolteacher mother (Geena Davis) begins having flashbacks of her pre-amnesia life and tries to uncover her past. She teams up with a private investigator (Samuel L. Jackson) and the two are in desperate danger when she discovers she used to be an assassin working for the U.S. government.

Review:

Tim: This is a pretty average action flick that mostly just recycles from a hodgepodge of other films. The story is pretty familiar, an assassin with amnesia, blah blah, government trying to kill her- you've seen this all before.

The cast is all in the right roles, but the acting is very often terrible. Especially bad is Samuel L. Jackson, who utters some ridiculous crap and who's acting is just plain weak. Watch for his "And I'm not going back!" line. The whole situation and the conversation from which it arises highlights the poor quality of the acting and the movie.

The film's action is decent. The falling out of the window into a frozen lake is pretty incredible, but much of the other action sequences leave much to be desired.

The storyline is predictable. There is never really any doubt about what is going to happen. This is not real good.

There are some enjoyable moments. Jackson's attitude and general charisma account for some entertaining scenes. Geena Davis' transformation is fairly fun to atch and she's enjoyable in a general sense.

The Long Kiss Goodnight is your typical action thriller. A few inspired moments are not enough to make up for multiple weaknesses and flaws. Fans of the genre might want to check it out, but this film is a misfire, and you should be aware of that.
