Review:
Tim: Wow. I definitely need to pause for a moment to take this all in. What an amazing, beautiful film. The first half is a hilarious, loving look at a carefree, honest man and his attempts to woo the woman of his dreams. I laughed so incredibly hard so many times. I could not believe how funny this film proved to be. One of my favorite scenes is the "Spiders and Visigoths." I loved it, and I could name a dozen equally as funny moments.
The first half of the film shows how wonderful and beautiful life can be, especially when it is full of love, kindness, and hope for the future.
Suddenly, all of that is changed. As abruptly as this shift is pace and tone changes in the movie, it would have occurred exactly the same way in real life. Here, our characters (and a father's love) are put to the ultimate test. All our thoughts on what makes life beautiful are shifted and we come face to face with the ultimate love right in the middle of the ultimate hatred. This is something that will stay with us as long as we live.
Life is Beautiful is one of the most extraordinary movies of all time. If you want your heart to swell as well as break a little, this tale of life and love is exactly what you need.
