Review:
Tim: I loved this movie. This is one of the best vampire movies ever made. I never would have guessed that a Swedish movie about vampires would have been this good, but it is. The movie perfectly balances the innocent and beautiful with the unnatural and terrifying. In some ways, this movie evokes the wonders of first love but also provides some frightening, scary moments. That combination makes this movie unique and exciting. It is a very good movie.
The cast is shockingly good. Kare Hedebrant is fantastic. I can't remember the last time I saw such an inspired, amazing performance from such a young actor. His performance is matched perfectly by Lina Leandersson, who gives a likewise brilliant one. These two young actors got along so well together, they truly make the movie. They bring their characters to life and make the entire movie believable. I was so impressed with both of them.
I wanted to mention my favorite scene in the film. There are a number of reasons for the film's title to be Let the Right One In, but one of them has to do with the myth that a vampire cannot enter a house unless they are invited in. The scene where young Oskar invites Eli into his home is absolutely brilliant. I still get chills when I think about what a genius scene this was. I truly loved it.
I can't remember the last time I saw a movie that both inspired me and terrified me at the same time. Let the Right One In is an original, unique movie that gives the audience something it's never seen before. For that reason, this is a movie that is simply a must see. It is incredible. I watched it in pure wonder at how great it was.
