Review:
Tim: This is one of those sequels that acts like it doesn't have to be good because it anticipates that all the fans of the original will come watch and love it simply because the first film was so good. This movie doesn't try very hard, and this fact shows up on screen.
Elle Woods as a character walks a fine line between being ridiculous and being somewhat believable. In the first film, you could convince yourself that this girl managed to get into Harvard Law and succeed. Here, Elle turns from believable to absurd. Her character takes a serious turn for the worst. She isn't enjoyable or much of a good role model.
The plot becomes even more ridiculous than the original. I can tell myself that she could get through Harvard Law schoo, but to go to D.C and pass some stupid law despite opposition from professional politicians? I draw the line here. I cannot suspend my disbelief that much.
Reese Witherspoon is decent but doesn't sparkle like she did in the first film. She needed to carry this film and just couldn't do it. To be fair, she didn't have much to work with. Oh, and by the way? The title is horrible, just horrible.
It is sad what Hollywood does to good films. This is a sequel that never should have been made. Shame on all of you, Hollywood.
