Review:

Tim: Once you get past the cheesy 80s music (which has to represent one of the worst scores of all time), this film is not half bad. I want to make the point- and this is extremely important- that the only reason to watch this movie is for the performance of Matthew Broderick. His constantly talking thief with a heart, "Mouse" makes this movie enjoyable. It lights up an otherwise bland film.

Rutger Hauer and Michelle Pfieffer are decent as cursed lovers, but frankly, they are a bit boring. Without Broderick, I would have fallen asleep numerous times throughout the film.

However, as the movie stands, it is an enchanting story that has a bit of heart to it. Make no mistake, Ladyhawke is lightweight as far as movies go. That doesn't stop it from being entertaining, however,

The special effects are outdated- there is no CGI morphing Hauer into a wolf or Pfieffer into a hawk, but for a decent story, we can all look past this.

Ladyhawke is an occasionally fun movie that succeeds because Broderick is just so darn likeable in roles like this. His performance reminds me of that in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and any comparison to that film is a positive notion.
