Review:

Tim: Like director Judd Apatow's The 40-Year-Old Virgin, this is a popular comedy that everyone loved and I liked. To be fair, this is a funnier film than his previous comedic hit. There are some legitimately hilarious lines, but the real strength of the movie comes from its underlying heart.

Seth Rogen is perfectly cast as the slacker man-child who is forced to very quickly grow up. He is really funny to watch, although I thought his performance occasionally bordered on the hard-to-believe. I understand the need to make him the very apparent opposite of Prince Charming, but at times it almost felt like the portrayal of his character went too far. It could have been handled more subtly. Katherine Heigel is excellent as the woman carrying his unplanned child. She had a more difficult role, but she pulls it off beautifully. Their attempts at romance and a real relationship were not the most believable, but I suppose you will have that. The supporting cast is good, but most especially, Paul Rudd, who is just so good in these supporting roles.

Knocked Up is the type of comedy that people of all demographics will love. There are some incredibly quotable lines (I won't go into detail here, mostly because the funniest ones are all R rated). This is a movie that starts out strong, starts to lose itself in the middle, but by the end of the film, everything comes together. The last 25 minutes are the film's most satisfying, and this is a textbook example of how you want to end a movie strongly. The film will make you laugh, occasionally make you think, and will be entertaining throughout.
