Summary:A peasant, William (Heath Ledger) witnesses his master, an over the hill champion jouster, die in between a contest. He takes his master's place, although it is against rules for a peasant to joust- that is only for those with a noble heritage. He wins the match, and realizes he has an opportunity to make all his dreams come true. He and two other peasants decide to continue this charade. As William gets better and better, and wins several jousting tournaments, he finally gets a taste of the life he has longed for. However, once he falls in love, and makes a formidable enemy, the pressure to continue pretending to be of noble birth becomes more difficult, and the threat of someone revealing who he really is becomes more dangerous.

Review:

Tim: A Knight's Tale is a surprise hit. I didn't expect too much from this film, but I was blown away. Heath Ledger is just incredible in this movie. A Knight's Tale has it all- incredible action, a very funny comedic side, and is full of suspense. Not many movies depict jousting tournaments, so this film is refreshingly different. One of the most interesting aspects of this movie is the use of 1970's rock anthems, although the film takes place during medieval times. This marriage of old and new is pulled off beautifully, and leaves you smiling every time you hear a familiar song. When the peasants do the wave before a match, you know you are seeing something very intriguing.

Perhaps the best aspect of this film is simply how much fun you will have watching it. A Knight's Tale is one of the most fun movies I have ever seen. From the incredible jousting action to the rock anthems, to the disco-style dance the nobility do during a banquet, this movie is incredible.

If you are in the mood to sit back and relax and just watch an entertaining, funny, action-packed fun movie- this is the perfect one to see. For a summer movie, this one is perfect. A Knight's Tale kept me smiling throughout the film, and kept me completely entertained. So far in the summer of 2001, this is the most fun I have had with a film. If you haven't seen this film- go out now.
