Review:

Tim: For some uncanny reason, I just could not get excited about this film. I love Peter Jackson, and I was absolutely blown away by his Lord of the Rings trilogy. However, I cared very, very little about seeing this movie. Still, when I finally sat down to watch it, I was able to give it the benefit of the doubt.

I was disappointed. Yes, Peter Jackson did achieve something in this three-hour epic. Kong really does look impressive, and the special effects work was astounding. The movie will certainly entertain. It is suspenseful and somewhat interesting. However, the three hour run time is way, way too long. The movie drags on at times, and it really should have been around two and a half hours.

The movie certainly has some very interesting scenes. Some of the situations on Skull Island are pretty amazing. The special effects here are really impressive. Kong looks absolutely amazing, especially during his climactic battle at the top of the Empire State Building.

Despite a few strengths, the movie as a whole is disappointing. The cast really should have been stronger, and there are some miscastings (I won't mention names, like Jack Black or anything). I am not a fan of this movie, and I think it is highly overrated.
