Summary: While at home for Christmas, a man (Ryan Reynolds) meets the girl (Amy Smart) he loved in high school. He realizes he is still not over her- or the pain she caused him.
Review:
Tim: This is one of those romantic comedies that probably shouldn't work, but there is enough heart to make it worthwhile. Yes, there are some ridiculous parts of the movie, but there are also some really funny parts as well.
Ryan Reynolds does a terrific job. He needed to be both strong, confident, and mature, but underneath that, vulnerable, scared, and very, very immature. He manages to not only pull it off, but do it with flying colors. Amy Smart is quite good as well. I have a hard time with Smart- some films I find her very good in, and some, I can't stand her. Luckily, this is one of her better films. Anna Faris is far too over-the-top and completely annoying. She is not funny in the least. Chris Klein doesn't have a great deal to do, but he manages to add something to the film.
Just Friends does have a good message about being true to who you are and about how we fall in love. It will also make you laugh- occasionally, but it will also make you groan as well.
