Summary: One night, hotshot sports agent Jerry Maguire writes a mission statement about his whole industry- attacking it for putting too much emphasis on profits, not caring enough about clients, etc.- it is the stuff of genius, and it promply lands him a pinkslip from the agency he helped build. He takes with him idealist secretary (Rene Zellweger), and one arrogant client (CUba Gooding, Jr.). It's at this point that he reevaluates his life, and is suprised to discover what he finds.

Review:

Tim: Ask anyone that knows anything about movies, and every single one will tell you that this was one of the best romantic comedies of the 1990s. Cameron Crowe gives us a near-perfect film. Tom Cruise gives perhaps the best and most underrated performance of his career. Cuba Gooding, Jr. won Oscar gold for his brilliant role, and Rene Zellweger used this film to launch her career to a whole new level. This film was good for everyone involved.

This really is one of the best romantic comedies you can find. The dialogue is so fresh and so intelligent, and the characters so vividly portrayed by a group of actors giving the greatest performances of their lives. How huge was "Show me the money?" for years after this movie? Cameron Crowe is known for using music to launch his movies, and this film has an amazing soundtrack, including an Eric Clapton song that still gets played constantly.

If you are a romantic comedy fan, you simply have to own this film. I do. It is hands down one of the top 5 romantic comedies ever made.
