Review:

Tim: This film spun out of the revitalization of the horror genre thanks to Scream. I Know What You Did Last Summer is completely inspired by that film, whcih is far superior to this one. While this genre would produce some really terrible films after Scream, this one isn't terrible.

A great deal of this film's success is due to the impressive cast. Jennifer Love Hewitt makes a good horror heroine, and it was very intelligent to revolve the movie around her. Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe, and Freddie Prinze, Jr. are all quite good as well.

The film is entertaining for a while, and even flirts with being excellent. However, the movie finally devolves into your typical teenager slasher flick. Even though it stumbles, the film is still entertaining enough to prove worthwhile. It could- and should- have been much better, however. You can do far worse in the genre, however. This movie is at least mildly enjoyable.
