Review:

Tim: I wanted to like this movie, I really did. I've always rooted for Luke Wilson, and I really liked the idea behind this film. I have heard the studios really screwed this project up, much to the chagrin of director Mike Judge. For all these reasons, I wanted this to work. Sadly, it does not. This isn't a funny movie. This is a terrible piece of crap. It's just a shoddy film. It has some truly interesting social commentary. I love the explanation of how the world because so stupid. It actually makes a great deal of sense, which is scary. Sadly, this is almost completely lost because the film is just so bad.

Luke Wilson is somewhat likeable, but he has nothing to work with here. Luckily, he's charismatic enough for us to enjoy watching him. He does nothing great, however. Maya Rudolph was surprisingly not annoying at all. I can't stand her on SNL, but I didn't hate her here. Dax Shepard is excellent at playing a real moron, but I'm not sure that is a compliment at all.

Part of the problem is that the humor is so juvenile. There is absolutely no sophistication at all. For a movie about the world becoming stupider, we're given a completely stupid movie that probably pushes us closer to that reality. There are some people who will undoubtedly defend this movie. However, it is honestly no good. There is very little that is worthwhile here. I'm not sure who should be blamed for this disaster, but there is a ton of blame to go around for this bomb.
