Review:
Tim: I really like the idea of pitting two Academy Award winners against each other in a game of cat-and-mouse. Sure, they are both only Best Supporting Actor winners, but that is still very impressive.
Tommy Lee Jones and Benicio Del Toro are a pretty good match for each other. It is interesting to see these two actors battling it out. On the negative side, Jones is getting a little too old for some of his stunts and action sequences to be believable. I have never been a very big fan of Del Toro and he isn't too spectacular here. The scene between him and the little girl is a showcase of uncomfortable acting on Del Toro's part.
The Hunted consists mainly of fighting scenes between the two stars. It isn't particularly fun watching two aging actors beat each other bloody. I also felt the movie was a little too close to The Fugitive. While Jones is nothing like his character in that movie, the rest of the film feels too close to the previous film for comfort. Watch to understand what I mean.
The Hunted is not a very interesting or entertaining film. There were long stretches when I was incredibly bored. The movie is weak in every aspect and all around is a mediocre film.
