Review:

Tim: I really don't like this movie. It is in the same vein as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, but cannot compare to it at all. First off, I like Chow Yun-Fat far better than Jet Li. Secondly, this film is repetitious and boring. You see the same three stories told in slightly different ways, and by the time you get the "truth," you're just tired of watching.

The fight scenes are somewhat amazing, but still lack something. Perhaps it is because we're more used to seeing people fly through the air in combat than we were ten years ago. The fight scenes aren't as impressive as they need to be.

I will concede that the movie is beautiful in some ways. The color schemes are great- one scene is done completely in blue, another in yellow, and another in green. It is fascinating to see.

The story is decent, but doesn't impact us like it should. We have a difficult time feeling for the characters, and many of the dramatic emotional scenes just seem silly.

Hero is a truly awe-inspiring movie to look at, however, it greatly lacks content and heart. Martial arts fans should enjoy it, but everyone else will be disappointed.
