Review:

Tim: The Harry Potter movies might be my guiltiest pleasure in the movie world. I hate to admit it, but I really like these movies. This, the fourth film in the series, continues the tradition of good filmmaking from the previous three. It is amazing that the fourth film in any franchise could be this good. There is no drop in quality here (although the third film is still the highlight).

As usual, we find the three kids getting older and presented with even greater challenges. The Tri-Wizard Tournament adds an interesting new element to the film. Of course, finally seeing Lord Voldemort is an event three films in the making.

Daniel Ratcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson all do a fine job even while struggling with puberty. I was a bit disappointed that Gary Oldman only did a little voicework, instead of actually being in the movie. The addition of Brendan Gleeson was brilliant, and the casting of Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort is absolutely genius. He is every bit as frightening and menacing as you would expect. I can't wait to see him again in future films. One of the strongest aspects of the Harry Potter movies is the great cast, and specifically, the excellent supporting players.

This film is astoundingly good when you realize it is the fourth entry in the series and most sequels have squandered all their strength by this point. Here, the Harry Potter franchise proves it will continue to wow audiences for many years.
