Review:

Tim: If you want to see a funny movie with the same type of plot, watch Meet the Parents, Meet the Fockers, or the original Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?. Don't see this turkey, because it is simply not a good film. I will admit there were a few moments when I genuinely laughed- the problem is that on either side of these moments are just terrible scenes. Most of this film is so painfully bad that I often felt sick to my stomach. Most of the movie is just not funny at all.

Ashton Kutcher seems bent on convincing everyone that he is just not a movie star. He is very weak in the role, and despite a few inspired moments, he's pretty worthless. Bernie Mac is just not funny, and inspired more pity than laughs. He is more sad than anything.

One good aspect of the film is the message of tolerance and acceptance is delivers. I do applaud films thta try and do such things. Unfortunately, the film is hurt by several scenes, but most especially the racial jokes at dinner scene, which is ridiculous, stupid, and sad.

I know this film did well at the box office, and I am disappointed, because that will only encourage equally as terrible comedies to be made. I admit this film has some good moments, but the film is so weak overall that it does not matter. I'm surprised that films like this continue to be made (well I suppose I shouldn't be). Movies like this only further my dislike of people like Kutcher and Mac.
