Review:
Tim: This is truly one of the crappiest horror movies I've seen in a long time. I wish I could remember who told me this movie was scary and great, because they deserve a slap in the face. This movie is in fact, not scary, ridiculous, and a cheap rip off of better horror movies like The Ring. And, as this is a remake of a Japanese horror film like the previously mentioned one, you can bet it was made to follow in that same path to box office glory.
The special effects aren't all that great and don't make the film any more frightening. I actually saw every time the movie attempted to be scary, and I thought to myself, "Man, that probably was supposed to be scary." Sadly, it wasn't.
Bill Pull contributes nothing in a thankless role- he either really needs the money or is horrible at choosing roles. Sarah Michelle Gellar needs to get away from her "Buffy" days, and Scooby-Doo isn't doing it, either. Her acting is weak and she has absolutely nothing to do. A monkey in a blonde wig could have done the part just as much justice.
This film proves that the current tend of remaking Japanese horror films into American blockbusters don't always turn out good films. Sadly, this film did pretty well at the box office and its only a matter of time before the sequel fools people out of money as well.
Pass this movie by. I strongly urge you to catch The Ring again. You'll be much happier if you do.
