Review:

Tim: Damn Walt Disney (the company, not the man) and their feel-good sports movies. I am so tired of this company rolling out an inspirational sports movie every two years or so. I hate it more because the majority of them are very good movies. Disney has the formula down, and although you know the entire plot, barring one of two unforeseen twists, you can't help but get caught up in the moment and find yourself having a very good time. This is due more to the nature of this type of movie than Disney's efforts, but regardless, the movie work.

Shia LeBeouf is really working hard to make the transition to a serious actor. He's still a long way off, and still working for Disney. But, with roles like this and the one in Constantine give me hope for his future. He is actually pretty impressive here and shows signs of serious talent. The supporting cast all give good performances.

Golf movies can often get a "boring, much like the sport itself" feeling. Luckily, that is never the case here. The golf scenes are all quite exciting. I love the scenes showing the focus of Stephen Dillone's character as everything around him vanishes away. These moments are quite impressive.

The Greatest Game Ever Played capitalizes on the tried and proven Disney sports formula. The cast is strong, and the story unfolds in dramatic fashion. You will find it difficult to not enjoy this movie.
