Review:

Tim: Goodfellas is a tremendous film and one of the greatest mob movies of all time. The film really strives to show the human side of the Mafia- they truly are all members of a family. However, do not be fooled- this film also shows the violent, ugly side.

The most interesting aspect of the film is the narrative of Ray Liotta and Lorraine Bracco. It adds another element to the film that makes it feel more impressive and important. Director Martin Scorsese uses this to its full advantage.

Ray Liotta gives a terrific performance. He is likeable yet tough and believable as a gangster. His narrative is worth paying attention to. Joe Pesci is excellent as well. He isn't a likeable character, but his acting is top notch. He won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role. Robert DeNiro is not as important as Liotta or Pesci. He is decent, but the film really isn't about him. He acts well, though.

The movie really takes a violent turn and yu see the true dark side of the Mafia- how violence and power breeds more violence. Pesci especially goes off the deep end in dramatic violent fashion.

Martin Scorsese directs a brilliant motion picture. It is all the more interesting because it is based on a true story. Keep this in mind, because it is fascinating to think about as you watch. Goodfellas is a classic Mafia film that deserves to be seen.
