Summary: Kip Raines (Giovanni Ribisi) is an arrogant young car thief who takes a major job from a new Italian thug named "The Carpenter." Kip botches the deal, and loses the cars he and his gang had already stolen. Now, the Carpenter demands the cars must be delivered, or young Kip will die. Kip's friends go to his older brother, Memphis Raines (Nicolas Cage) the (retired) greatest car thief in the world, to do the impossible: steal fifty cars in one night, or his brother dies. Memphis gets together his old gang (Robert Duvall, Angelina Jolie, Chi McBride, Vinnie Jones) and sets out to accomplish the only thing that will save his younger brother.

Review:

Tim: Gone in 60 Seconds is an intense, visually beautiful film. The cast is simply amazing, from the leading role of Cage, to the rest of the cast. Angelina Jolie does what she does well, but this isn't her best work. Robert Duvall plays a terrific role as he always does. One of the reasons this film is so incredible is because of the cast. They mix and bond well in all situations: from the celebrations to the set-backs and defeats. It is so amazing just to watch the interaction between various members of the team. Quickly I want to mention the incredible music found throughout the film as well.

For those who perfer action to acting, this film will be pleasing to you as well. There is enough action spaced throughout the film in various theft scenes, but the grand finale of them all comes at the end (no big surprise). It is simply a must-see scene. Any scene involving a car chase involving a Mustang Shelby GT 500. If you are a fan of fancy driving scenes, this movie will blow you away. Car lovers will be drooling over the load of amazing cars in this film. The multitude of beautiful cars makes this movie pretty to look at.

I have to give credit to Nicolas Cage. He truly takes the movie on his shoulders, although his does have help from an amazing cast. However, he is definitely the most fun to watch, and has some incredible lines ("I'm a baaaaaad man" is a memorable line). Watching him in all his knowledge and expertise with automobiles is simply fascinating.

The downside to this film is that while you are given a good deal of action, you wish you could have more. The scenes are incredible, but the film has moments were you are just dying for some action scenes, and it doesn't deliver.

On a final note, I wish to give a warning out to viewers: just because you've watched this film does NOT mean you can drive like Nicolas Cage. Trust me, I know. Everytime I see this movie, I tend to drive a little bit faster for the next few weeks, take turns a little sharper, and play my music a little louder. I definitely recommend this film if you are in the mood for a winding, spinning thrill ride.
