Summary: Two parents (Greg Kinnear, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos) are heartbroken when their eight year old son is killed by a car. A short time later, a frontier scientist (Robert DeNiro) approaches them with a tantilizing offer- he can clone their son, and bring him back to life.

Review:

Tim: This is a movie with an incredibly interesting premise- cloning a boy killed at eight years old, and what might happen to that boy when he crosses the age at which he previously died. Although this might make a good movie, Godsend is too confusing and weak to be worth seeing.

The cast is also seemingly excellent. Greg Kinnear is usually reliable, but he never really captures the role and it feels as if it is constantly getting away from him. Rebecca Romijn-Stamos is pretty weak and despite a few powerfully emotional scenes, is pretty forgettable.

Robert DeNiro makes as good supporting actor as he does a starring one, however, despite a decent beginning, he unravels with the rest of the movie.

DeNiro's performance actually mirrors the movie. Godsend starts pretty strongly, and we prepare ourselves for a creepy, suspense-filled film. As we wonder about the little boy, the movie is actually pretty good. However, it slowly unravels and by the film's end, the movie reaches an absurd point where intelligence fades away and we are left with silly horror cliches.

Despite the appeal this movie may have, pass it by. I sincerely hope better movies about cloning are made. It is a subgenre that will be more and more important in the coming years.
