Summary: The Ghostbusters are back! This time, they discover strange things have been happening to Dana Barrett (Sigourney Weaver), and ghosts start showing up all over the city. The Ghostbusters bust ghosts as usual, but soon discover an underground river of slime flowing directly to the museum where Barrett works. It seems a painting of Vigo has come to life, and Vigo wants to be born again to rule the world. He has decided on using Dana Barrett's baby, Oscar, as his new body. Its up to the Ghostbusters to save the world yet again!

Review:

Tim: The sequel to the amazing 1984 film comes five years after the original, and brought back the entire cast, which is a rare occurance- they even have the same Mayor of NYC as they did in the first film. In my opinion, this film is scarier than the first, but thats the only way it is superior.

The first film was funnier, more exciting, had a better laid out plot, and had a much more exciting ending. The good news is that this film is quite good, but not quite up to par with the original. Murray still has a number of hilarious and witty one-liners, Ramis continues to make us laugh with his emotionless dork, Egon, and the ghosts continue to haunt both NYC, and us!

I love this film just as much as I do the first one. Murray has the most amazing line in this film- it's while the Ghostbusters are in court for drilling a hole in a street and causing a blackout. The prosecutor is being real tough on him, and he's shaking all the questions off. She says: "Dr. Venkman, would you please tell the court why you and your codefendents took it upon themselves to drill a very big hole in the middle of First Avenue?" Murray replies: "Well, there's so many holes in First Avenue, we really didn't think anyone would notice." The audience laughs. She says: "I'll ask you again, Dr. Venkman, why were you digging the hole, and please remember, you're under oath." Murray says: "There are some things in this world that go way beyond human understanding. Things that cannot be explained. Things that most people don't want to know about. That is where we come in," he says, pointing to the other Ghostbusters. She is not impressed, saying, "So what you're saying is the world of the supernatural is your personal province?" Murray lightly taps her hand, much to her disgust, and says, "Kitten, I think what I'm trying to say is, sometimes shit happens, someone has to deal with it, and who you gonna call?" the audience applauses, and I have a chill run up my spine. That is some good stuff right there.

This film does have its own classic moments, like the one previously mentioned. At the end of this film, the Ghostbusters use the slime to make the Statue of Liberty walk off its pedestal, and they ride it through New York City, to the applause of cheering crowds. That is not something you see everyday, and it's great to be able to sit back and see that.

If you liked the first film, you definitely need to check this one out. While it doesn't really compare to the first one, in some ways, it is better. Its a shame they only made two Ghostbusters movies, but they are both excellent, and you really do need to see them.
