Review:
Tim: Overall, I am quite pleased with this film. Tim Allen is a terrific actor, and although he's had a number of box office flops, its nice to see a movie he's in that has some quality to it. Also, I actually really like Sigourney Weaver in this movie, and I almost never like her. Alan Rickman is a terrific actor, and although he's stifled a bit in this film, he manages to pull off a good performance as well.
The film does not have a load of very comedic scenes, but will supply enough laughs spaced throughout the film to keep you laughing and interested. The film is quite funny when it tries to be, and will be a refreshing break for movie fans from the typical stale comedy. Fans of Tim Allen will enjoy this movie, but don't expect Allen to be overly funny. He plays his role smartly, getting in good lines on occasion, but doesn't try to be funny every time he's on screen (Which also may account for why this film is better than many of Allen's previous film attempts).
This film succeeds on several levels, attempting to be funny, but not too funny. While the film has its occasional slow moment and silly parts, all in all, the film succeeds. While you can definitely do better, this film is also worth checking out- Tim Allen is good, and the film is fun- that's about all you can ask.
