Summary: Dr. Richard Kimball (Harrison Ford) comes home one night to discover a one-armed man in the process of murdering Kimball's wife (Sela Ward). After a struggle, the murderer escapes. However, all the evidence seems to point to Kimball being the murderer! After he is convicted, he escapes and tries to prove his innocence. However, he is tracked at every turn by a hotshot die-rather-than-lose Federal Marshall (Tommy Lee Jones). The race is on for Kimball to find the evidence he needs, or spend the rest of his life behind bars.
Review:
Tim: This is an incredible action movie. The hit TV show it is based on is supposedly great, but this film takes that to a whole new level. The cast, the action, and the thrills are all top notch. This is easily one of the best actions films of the 1990s.
Special note needs to be given to the train wreck scene, as it is unbelievable. A real train was apparently used, which is simply mindblowing. This is simply the beginning to many more great action sequences.
Harrison Ford gives an outstanding performance as Richard Kimball. He needs to be mentioned as great, because he and everyone else in the film is shadowed by the career-best performance of Tommy Lee Jones. He is tough, fast-talking and just amazing. His performance is what makes this movie so great. As an audience, we are emotionally attached to Ford- we want him to elude police and find the real killer. However, we are also faced with a dilemma, because Jones is just so cool that we want him to succeed, too. It makes for great viewing.
Jones is actually very well supported by his team, too. Drawing special note is a bearded Joe Pantoliano. The team brings a level of both professionalism and humor, which all adds to the film.
There's not much else to say except that The Fugitive is a great action thriller. Check this one out, because it is a terrific film.
