Summary: A woman (Meg Ryan) is shocked to learn her fiance (Timothy Hutton) has left her for a French woman. She hops on a plane and follows him to France in order to win him back. There, she becomes involved with a French thief (Kevin Kline) who offers to help her, but is really only after obtaining stolen jewels.

Review:
Tim: This is a pretty good romantic comedy that tries to shake the feeling that it is subpar and almost, almost does. Meg Ryan was born to play these types of roles. Many people fault her for the many rom-coms she's been in, but I admire her for knowing her strengths and using them to her advantage. Kevin Kline is surprisingly good as a Frenchman. This is not a role I'd expect him to play, but he is not bad at all. Part of the problem is that despite his quirkiness and Ryan's cuteness, there is a disconnect between the two. They never feel right together. Here is the biggest weakness of the film, and it suffers greatly because of it.

The romance is lacking, but there are a number of very funny moments. Kline isn't the romance king, but he knows how to be pretty funny. He has quite a few opportunities to make us laugh.

While the film has the potential to be pretty incredible, it falls short in a number of ways. It is too long and drags in multiple spots. What starts out as charming eventually becomes tiresome.

I know I got pretty down on this movie. There are quite a few memorable moments and worthwhile scenes. Romantic comedy fans may like this movie quite a bit and there is enough good in it to merit a viewing.
