Review:
Tim: Remembering When Harry Met Sally, I was very excited about seeing this film. As I expected, Billy Crystal is his usual witty comic self. However, I noticed that as the film progressed, the jokes didn't seem to hit the mark. The film tries too hard to be funny, and as a result, comes off a little silly. I also didn't like Debra Winger in this film. I thought she was poorly cast, as there is no chemistry between Crystal and Winger. The whole film doesn't really draw you in, and a big part of that is the lack of chemistry. I thought Meg Ryan and Crystal went together much, much better together.
I can't honestly say this movie ranks better than average. Crystal does have some incredibly funny moments, and Ellen's father is hilarious in his: "You asked for it. You got it. Toyota" lines. This isn't a bad film to see once or twice, but I wouldn't waste my money buying it.
I think it's unfair to compare this movie with When Harry Met Sally, but unfortunately, it must be done. Winger doesn't have the star potential of Meg Ryan, and Crystal's directing and acting job falls a little short of his acting job in the previous film.
If When Harry Met Sally was never made, this film would probably be looked upon more favorably. However, due to the success of the previous film, this one just falls short.
