Review:
Tim: Ferris Bueller's Day Off is a classic film that most high schoolers know by heart and have taken at least a few lessons from Ferris once or twice in their life. The film is just plain fun from beginning to end, and Ferris' ride is a memorable one for all of us watching. Who can forget Ben Stein's hilarious, "Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?" roll call as the most boring teacher in the world, or Broderick's smirk at the camera as he outsmarts all those around him yet again. This is about as charming as a film can get.
One of the many elements of this film that makes it a success is Bueller's relationship with the viewing audience. He pauses several times during the film to speak directly to us, making the audience feel like they are in on his plans. This builds an undeniable connection between Broderick and the audience, and its one of the many reasons people love this movie so much. In addition, Ferris has a lucky touch that I believe all of us are jealous of. He can seemingly get away with anything, and we love him for it.
This film draws much of its success from Broderick. He will always be remembered for this role. He was seemingly born for it, and shows us along the way that he realizes it. He has fun on camera, and as a result, the movie just glows of fun and excitement.
Ferris Bueller's Day Off is an undeniable classic. Every movie fan needs to have seen this movie at least twice to really call themselves well-viewed. In the end, Ferris Bueller's Day Off is incredibly fun to watch.
