Review:

Tim: I really like this movie. It is fun, funny, and overall, a very enjoyable time. The movie works almost completely because of the performance of Cary Grant. I've never been a huge fan, but he is absolutely fantastic here. He is gruff, self-centered, and hilarious. I loved every second of him on the screen. He really impressed me in this role. I vastly prefer him in this type of role, rather than his clean cut, gentlemanly performances in films like North by Northwest and The Philadelphia Story. Grant's supporting cast is decent. Leslie Caron wasn't bad, but I thought she could have been better. She does have her moments (the snake bite scenes are great).

While watching this movie, I was reminded a great deal of The African Queen. There are quite a few similarities between the two. While I prefer the Humphrey Bogart film, the margin of my favor is very small. I'd rather have both movies because their differences are what make each unique and enjoyable.

I'm willing to bet you haven't heard of this movie because I certainly never did, until I actually watched it. I wholeheartedly recommend you do what it takes to track down this movie because it is well worth your time. You will laugh and thoroughly enjoy yourself.
