Summary: A convict (Eddie Murphy) is released for 48 hours to work with a police officer (Nick Nolte) to catch the convict's old partner. If the pair (whom hate each other) can't find a way to work together and make the arrest, the convict will go back behind bars.

Review:

Tim: This is an excellent buddy movie that came before buddy movies were the popular fashion. Interestingly, 48 Hrs. features the buddy formula to a T- you have two different yet interesting men who at first hate each other (and are verbal about it) but learn to mutually respect each other through adversity.

Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy are a very good pair. Nolte is exceptionally gruff and sloppy. Murphy is simply hilarious in his feature film debut. Together they have such unlikely chemistry.

The action in the film isn't too superb. There are a few decent moments, but most of the action is pretty low budget. This is the weakest area of the film. The movie is definitely a comedy.

The dialogue between Nolte and Murphy is pretty crisp and funny. At times, the conversation can be silly and a tad ridiculous, but for the most part is entertaining.

All in all, this is a pretty entertaining film. Buddy flicks are now pretty common, but this was something pretty fresh in 1982.
