Review:
Tim: I feel like I might use "putrid" a bit too much as an adjective, but it certainly fits the bill here. I actually reserved my wrath- kept it in check- until the beyond absurd rooftop finale, which was so dumb it made me sick to my stomach. It was almost like the director knew what an awful film he had, and at its climax, decided to give up and end it with a finale salute to everything that is wrong with the film.
How anyone came up with the idea for a movie based on a woman who accidentally starts killing Elvis impersonators is beyond me. How the film attracted talent like Kim Basinger and John Corbett is beyond me. Further, how an actor like Tom Hanks (in a legitimately funny cameo) would sign on, I am unable to comprehend. This movie is downright awful.
I can't even begin to describe all the film's problems. Besides the premise itself, we have these ridiculous flashbacks, more Elvis impersonators than you could possibly imagine, death galore, and in the middle of all this, one of the worst love stories ever written. I am trying to think of one plausible thing that happens in this movie, and I cannot come up with one.
I could go on and on about how terrible Elvis Has Left the Building is. I could go on about how the King has to be rolling over in his grave. But, instead, I've decided that I already wasted 90 minutes (thank God it wasn't longer) of my life on this movie, a few more for this review, and I'm not going to take up another second on this putrid piece of garbage.
