Summary: An overworked gynecologist (Richard Gere) deals with a wife with a rare mental disorder (Farrah Fawcett), a soon-to-be married daughter (Kate Hudson), and her sister (Tara Reid), who suspects a relationship between her sister, and the maid-of-honor (Liv Tyler). To complicate matters even further, the gynecologist begins having an affair with the new golf pro (Helen Hunt).

Review:

Tim: This film is so complicated from beginning to end that oftentimes you cannot help but wishing all the talking women (and there are a ton of them all talking at the same time) would just shut the hell up. The film can easily become overwhelming and irritating.

The film was blessed with an excellent cast. Richard Gere does a tremendous job keeping the whole film together. Around him are great performances by Helen Hunt, Kate Hudson, and Tara Reid. Laura Dern does a good job, but through most of the film, she is incredibly annoying, so that takes away from my enjoyment of her. Fawcett isn't in the film very much, but she's off in mental-land, so she isn't spectacular. Tara Reid adds an excellent performance, and her scenes with Gere are among the best of the film.

One of the key moments when the film begins to unravel involve scenes with Gere and Hunt. Their relationship never seems to fully develop, and there appears to be next to no chemistry between them.

While Dr. T and the Women isn't the worst film ever, it suffers from a number of flaws. The film itself is very, very slow. At times I was tempted to just shut the film off, because I had no emotional stake in any of the characters, and I didn't care at all how the whole thing would turn out. While the film has a few funny moments, they are too few and far between.

Dr. T and the Women is a very chaotic film, and while that may be something refreshing and different for a few minutes, by the end, you just want it to stop.
