Review:

Tim: I have to admit, after seeing the trailer for this film and previews on television, I had absolutely no urge to ever see this movie. However, due to a slow night at Blockbuster where the selection did not appeal to me, I happened to pick this up.

First I have to say this film was not as bad as I thought it would be. While it did have its share of plot holes and silly moments, the comedic performance by Chris Rock manages to save this film. Rock has plenty of moments in the film to harness his own stand-up comedy abilities, and has his share of hilarious lines. Rock makes this film what it is. I believe with any other actor in Hollywood, this movie would have been at the bottom of my stink pile. However, Rock’s hilarious performance makes Down to Earth a worthwhile choice.

If you are in the mood for comedy, I do recommend this film. Enough cannot be said for Rock- he is simply hilarious. Down to Earth doesn’t offer too much, deciding instead to rest all its hopes on Rock’s shoulders. He does indeed deliver, and makes this movie worth seeing- once.

Comedy lovers and especially fans of Chris Rock must see this film. You won’t be too disappointed, and you be be rolling with laughter at many of the scenes in this film. I must admit I had no intention to see this movie, but after viewing it, I was pleasantly surprised, and very glad I saw it- and I think you will be, too.
