Review:

Tim: Double Take features the normally very funny Orlando Jones (simply hilarious in the 7-Up commercials). However, this film doesn’t give him much room to work, and as a result he doesn’t give as good of a comedic perforance as he is able to. Eddie Griffin tries desperately hard to be funny, but comes off much more annoying than humorous.

One aspect of the film that works well is the plot. With many twists, turns, and surprises, you will be guessing until the end. Throughout the film you have no idea who the real bad guys are. This keeps you entertained throughout the film. It is very good that Double Take keeps you guessing, because otherwise the film would simply bore you to death. The film is quite slow, and not very funny at all. While I will admit there are times when Jones and Griffin do very good jobs and there are several truly funny moments throughout the film, all in all, Double Take is quite a big letdown. Unless you are a true Orlando Jones fan (in which case you’ll be disappointed), then I can’t really recommend this movie. If you are a big comedy fan, there are worse films to choose than this one, but it will never be at the top of my list.

Double Take has excellent actors and good ideas, but the film just comes up short. This movie won’t totally bore you, but I do recommend looking elsewhere for a laugh. As for me, I do not plan to take a double take at this movie, as one time through was more than enough for me.
