Review:

Tim: This is Oliver Stone's biography of The Doors and their lead singer, Jim Morrison. The movie works because of Val Kilmer and Stone's unique approach to the film.

Kilmer is simply fantastic as Morrison. I have heard his performance called "spooky" as he seemingly channels Morrison from beyond the grave. All I can say is that it is definitely worth seeing and several times, I couldn't even believe I was watching Kilmer- that's how fantastic he is.

Stone really sets this movie apart because it's not your typical biographical film. While many such movies have been made recently, this one doesn't take that often-trodden path. Sure, it follows the band through their rise to success and eventual fall, but Stone puts us in their world- and with all the drugs and alcohol, oftentimes that world teetered between reality and something surreal. Those moments are the most strange- and interesting of the film.

The Doors were a revolutionary band that made a huge impact on millions of people at the height of their fame. The rise and fall of Jim Morrison is a fascinating story, told very well by Stone and acted brilliantly by Kilmer. This will put you in that day and age and offer an interesting insight into the world of the Doors.
