Review:

Tim: This is a terrific cop movie. Clint Eastwood's Harry Callahan is the epitome of the genre's tough-as-nails cop here. He is iconic and you need to see him in this, his best film. Early in Eastwood's career, he was good at two things- kicking ass in Westerns, and kicking ass in cop/war movies. This is the definitive film in that latter half.

The Scorpio killer is pretty treacherous as a bad guy. I'm not sure how I feel about his more absurd outbursts, but he is one bad dude- burying a girl alive (kind of), kidnapping a bus full of kids, and shooting someone in the face. He is a formidable and resourceful criminal that Callahan must track down. Their several shoot-outs are quite impressive to see.

I love the explanation for the "Dirty Harry" nickname. It is great and it tells you everything you need to know about the character.

Also watch for the ultimately famous "Do you feel lucky, punk?" speech. Eastwood delivers it twice and it sends shivers down the spine because it is so incredibly cool.

Dirty Harry is the ultimate cop movie and you are doing yourself a disservice by not seeing it as soon as possible.
