Summary: John McClane (Bruce Willis) returns for the third installment of the Die Hard series. McClane is back in NYC, seperated from his wife for a year now. When a bomb explodes in the city, the police get a call from the bomber, a man calling himself Simon (Jeremy Irons), tells them to get John McClane. Once McClane arrives, Simon tells him they are going to play Simon Says- Simon will tell McClane to do something and if he doesn't do it in time, or doesn't do it correctly, another bomb will go off. On one of the "games", McClane is saved by Zeus, a Harlem dry cleaner (Samuel L. Jackson). Simon takes a fancy to Zeus, and he becomes an unwilling partner in the game of Simon Says. Now, McClane and Zeus must not only jump through Simon's hoops, but discover how to stop Simon before more innocent people die.
Review:
Tim: In my opinion, this is the best in the Die Hard Trilogy. While this one does have some plot holes, it is filled with much better action sequences, more hilarious witty lines, and better acting from all the stars. Samuel L. Jackson adds so much to this film, and in many of the scenes, steals away the attention from Bruce Willis (who, by the way, is at his best in this film). Jeremy Irons is by far the best villan in any Die Hard movie.
Perhaps the best part of this film is that it breaks away from the mold of the first two films. This one doesn't take place at Christmas, and doesn't take place in a single location(i.e.- an office building, an airport), but rather all over New York City. Die Hard With a Vengeance is a rip roaring action roller coaster ride that features some of the most outstanding action sequences ever, and is just a thrill to watch. This film isn't the most thought-out movie ever, but what it is is just plain fun. You will love this movie. If you see only one Die Hard movie, I recommend this one be it.
