Review:

Tim: Robert Rodriguez makes an amazing film as his sequel/remake of his independent hit, El Mariachi. Instead of making the film for $7,000, he has a much bigger Hollywood budget and that money shows up in the incredible action scenes and the big name actors starring in the film.

This film makes the transition of Rodriguez's character and story from small foreign film to large American production flawlessly. It continues the storyline in a satisfactory manner while paying tribute to the original film.

It should be mentioned that you don't necessarily need to see El Mariachi to really love this movie, but it makes the viewing experience sdo much better to understand the origins of this character.

Besides everything else, Desperado is just a terrific action movie. You have explosions, gunfights, and mixed in with that, truly incredible humor. Rodriguez balances these out perfectly.

The cast is very good. Antonio Banderas is a great action hero, and under the direction of Rodriguez, truly shines. Hayek, Buscemi, and Marin all have good supporting roles. Quentin Tarantino is decent as well in his tiny part. Rodriguez uses his talented cast, superb action, and well timed humor to make Desperado a great viewing experience. Plus, its just a really fun movie.
